Ganga Jamna Swarswati (1988):

Thakur Hansraj (Amrish Puri) is very greedy and kills his brother-in-law. Using false means, he takes the signature of his sister Bharati Devi (Nirupa Roy) on the property papers claiming that she has transferred the entire property to him. When his sister learns about it, she gets very angry. The son of Bharati Devi, Ganga (Amitabh Bachchan) takes a pledge that he will one day take revenge on Thakur at the same place.

Ganga becomes a truck driver who transports goods. Jamuna (Meenakshi Sheshadri) jumps on the truck one day to save herself from Bheema who is after her. Ganga has to stop the truck as the road ahead is blocked. It starts raining heavily and the only staying place nearby is for honeymoon couples. Ganga decides to go there to get shelter with Jamuna pretending they are a couple. The next day, when Bheema comes to take Jamuna away forcibly, Ganga fights with him. Jamuna falls in deep ice and there is no fire nearby to save her life which forces Ganga to have sexual relations with her.

Aakhree Raasta (1986):

David D'Costa (Amitabh Bachchan) lives a relatively poor life in Chennai with his wife Mary D'Costa (Jayapradha) who is pregnant. He literally worships the Member of Parliament Chaturvedi (Sadashiv Amrapurkar), and is even willing to die for him. He introduces Mary to Chaturvedi, and with his blessings they name the new-born son James. Then one day while he is busy obstructing rail traffic, he gets arrested and is bailed out by Mahesh (Anupam Kher) When he returns home he finds that Mary has committed suicide. She left a note blaming Chaturvedi for raping her. An upset David goes to confront Chaturvedi, is intercepted by Police Inspector Roop Kumar Sahay (Dalip Tahil) and Dr. Verma (Bharat Kapoor), the evidence is destroyed, and he is sentenced to 24 years in prison for Mary's murder. He asks his friend Mahesh to look after James in his long absence. Twenty four years later, David is released, he goes to visit Mahesh and is shocked to find that Mahesh has changed, he is no longer a boot-legger, he now lives a wealthy life-style, he wants David to forget the past, and live with his CID Inspector son Vijay (also Amitabh Bachchan).

Mard (1985):

British intelligence comes over to India and loot all its wealth and carry it over to there country. Once they were being challenge by a brave king name Raja Azaad Singh, one day he happen to confront them and take them over to Lady Elena where some justice was being thought to them but they turn back and attack Azaad Singh on his back and he was wounded on his left arm. He contact Dr. Harry and was again attack but this time he sent away his wife and new born baby son by putting a mark on his arm. Fearing that the baby may fall into the British arm his mother decides to leave him into an orphanage. Later on the boy grows up and was called Mard with intelligence to protect his own country, a woman name Jamuna and her husband brought him up. On a chance encounter he happen to meet up with beautiful and charming Ruby on a mischap and later on found out it was Dr. Harry's daughter, on a strange incident both Ruby and Mard falls in love.

Sharaabi (1984):

Vicky Kapoor (Amitabh Bachchan), the only son of multi-millionaire industrialist, Amarnath (Pran), grows up to be an alcoholic, a spolit brat with a good heart. Amarnath has detached himself completely from Vicky's life, and provides him money in lieu of affection and care, leaving this to be taken care of by Munshi Phoolchand (Om Prakash). Vicky is very resentful of being ignored by his dad in this manner, and leaves no stone unturned to mock and belittle him at every available opportunity. Amarnath hopes to get his son married, but Vicky loves Meena (Jayapradha), the daughter of a poor blind man, which is not acceptable to Amarnath. One day, Amarnath decides he has had enough and decides to turn Vicky out of his house. He has him sign waivers, and asks him to get out, which Vicky happily does. While Vicky is relieved of being freed from his dad's control, the question remains that with no skills at making a living, how is Vicky to survive in a cold-hearted world?

Andha Kanoon (1983):

Jan Nissar Akhtar Khan works as a Forest Officer, and lives with his wife Zakhiya and his daughter Neelu. One day while on duty he comes across some poachers who were cutting sandal wood trees illegally. When challenged, they retaliate, a struggle ensues, and one of them, Ram Gupta, gets killed. Khan is charged with killing him, tried in Court, and sentenced to several years in prison. His shocked and devastated wife kills herself along with their daughter. Years later, an angry and embittered Khan is released from prison. One day he comes across another young man, Vijay Singh, and finds out that he is struggling with taking vengeance against two men who had traumatized and killed some of his family members, and decides to help him. It is then Khan finds out that Gupta is still alive and decides to kill him, quite dramatically in the same courtroom where he was convicted for his murder. Watch how this action will effect Khan's future, and Vijay's plan for avenging his family.

Coolie (1983):

The film became famous even before its release when Amitabh Bachchan was critically injured on 26 July 1982 in the intestines while filming a fight scene with co-star Puneet Issar which almost cost him his life. The crew was filming the shot at University Campus in Bangalore. His accident received wide world coverage and hit the headlines in the UK, something unheard of at the time, and many Indians prayed in temples or offered to sacrifice their own limbs to save him. Nevertheless he spent many months recovering and resumed filming later that year after a long period of recuperation.

Mahaan (1983):

Vikram Singh (Amjad Khan) is framed for possession of drugs but claims he was framed by a business associate named Rajan (Sujit Kumar). After release from prison he kills Rajan and frames his former lawyer Amit (Amitabh Bachchan). Amit is forced to go on the run while his pregnant wife Janki (Waheeda Rehman) gives birth to twin sons Guru and Shankar (Both played by Amitabh Bachchan). Unfortunately she becomes separated from one of her sons Guru when her son is stolen by one barren couple. With her husband on the run and one son missing, Janki is forced to raise Shankar on her own. Will she find her other son Guru? and Will she be reunited with Amit ever again. At the end she does get united with her whole family... Amit thinks his wife Janki is dead so tries to lead a normal life with his adopted daughter Manju. But Janki is well living in another city with Shankar and Guru had been brought up by a barren couple. At the end they all meet unusually at Vikram Singh's house.... they hand him over to the police and become a family again.

Khuddar (1982):

Govind (Amitabh Bachchan) and Rajesh (Vinod Mehra) are two brothers who are happy being brought up by their considerably older stepbrother Hari (Sanjeev Kumar). However, when Hari has to leave home for two months to complete his law degree, his newly married wife Seema (Tanuja), jealous of her husband's excessive affection for the two, misbehaves with them, forcing them to leave home and escape to Mumbai.

After days spent doing menial labour, the two brothers are finally given a home by the widower Rahim, who has a son Anwar and daughter Farida. Govind takes on the responsibility of providing for his brother's education by becoming the taxi-driver Chhotu Ustad. Rajesh, however, is ambitious and foppish, and spurns his brother and the latter's pride by marrying the rich Seth Verma's daughter Manju (Bindiya Goswami) and staying at his father-in-law's mansion.

Desh Premee (1982):

Master Dinanth (Amitabh Bachchan) is a freedom fighter and led the war against the British in 1942 and eventually won the independence in 1947. But after independence, the people's love for their country seems to be diminishing and they are too busy betraying it like rich businessman Thakur Pratab Singh (Amjad Khan). Master Dinanth finds out about Thakur Pratab Singh's illegal activities such as smuggling of weapons and ammunition and gets him arrested. In revenge for putting him in prison, Pratab Singh gets Master Dinnanth's wife Bharati (Sharmila Tagore) and daughter Priti (Parveen Babi) kidnapped by Thakur's partner in crime Sher Singh (Kader Khan) to try to change his ways but to no avail. Thakur also provokes an attack on Masterji's home by the local villagers who accuse Dinanath of betraying his country and he is forced to flee his home with his young son Raju.

Satte Pe Satta (1982):

Satte Pe Satta is the story of seven brothers living on a large farmhouse. The first half of the movie shows the life of the brothers who grew up under the dominance of their oldest brother Ravi (Amitabh Bachchan). Being orphans and uneducated, all seven brothers are unsophisticated bumpkins and lack social etiquette and hygiene. They live on a small farm among animals. A sequence of events leads Ravi to fall in love with a nurse named Indu (Hema Malini). Indu despises unruliness and chaos. Therefore Ravi tricks her into believing that he has only 1 younger brother, Shani and thus Indu eventually marries him only to realize he has five more brothers all uneducated and uncouth. Ravi's six brothers learn to adjust with new woman in their lives as she does with them, trying to civilize them. Soon enough, they all fall in love with a group of six women (and the feeling is mutual) and shortly things take a turn.

Namak Halal (1982):

Young Arjun (Amitabh Bachchan) is brought up by his Daddu (paternal grandfather) (Om Prakash). His Daddu decides for him to go to the city in search of a new job and life. While in the city he meets up with Bhairon (Ram P. Sethi) who guides him into an interview in a 5-star hotel owned by Raja (Shashi Kapoor).

While in the hotel, Arjun meets Poonam (Smita Patil) and falls in love with her. During this time, many attempts are made to kill Raja by Girdar Singh (Satyendra Kapoor) and his son Ranjeet. The blame for these murders goes to Raja's mother (Waheeda Rehman), who is actually Arjun's mother. Realising all this Arjun takes an oath no matter what happens he will not let any harm come to Raja. As these attempts are being made, can Arjun thwart them all?

Shaan (1980):

DSP Shiv Kumar played by Sunil Dutt, returns home to his wife Sheetal (Raakhee) and their young daughter and announces that he has been transferred to Bombay. Shiv Kumar has two brothers, Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan) and Ravi (Shashi Kapoor), who live in Mumbai. They are intelligent, capable guys but spend their time loafing about the city and swindling unsuspecting people. After resuming his work in Mumbai, however, a mystery man (Shatrughan Sinha) tries to assassinate Shiv Kumar. Shiv survives both the times.

Suhaag (1979):

Durga (Nirupa Roy) and Vikram Kapoor (Amjad Khan) have been married for years. Vikram has taken to crime in a big way and as a result has antagonized a rival gangster, Jaggi. Durga gives birth to twins and Jaggi steals one of them, and sells him to a bootlegger, Pascal. Durga is upset when she finds her son missing, but is devastated when Vikram abandons her. With a lot of difficulty, Durga brings up her son, Kishan (Shashi Kapoor), and has given up on finding her other son. Kishan has grown up and is now a dedicated police officer. On the other hand, Pascal has exploited Amit (Amitabh Bachchan), kept him illiterate, doing petty crime and alcoholic. This gets him in confrontation with Kishan but ironically the two settle their differences and become fast friends. Vikram is still alive and is not aware of his two sons and wife being alive. Without revealing his identity, he hires Amit to kill Kishan during a Navratri dance at Maa Sherawali's temple. Amit informs Kishan and together with other police personnel, keep vigil. Things do not go as planned, they are attacked and Kishan loses his eyesight and may never get to see again leaving the onus on Amit to try to locate the person behind this crime.

The Great Gambler (1979):

Besharam (1978):

After Digvijay Singh (Amjad Khan) implicates him as a corrupt person, Ramchandra (A. K. Hangal), a teacher commits suicide. Resolved to fight against the injustice in society and uncover the criminal elements, he joins forces with the Police Commissioner (Iftekar) and transforms himself into Prince Chandrashekar, a top notch diamond businessman from South Africa.

Kasme Vaade (1978):

Suman (Raakhee) and Amit (Amitabh Bachchan) love each other and plan to marry soon. Amit lives with his younger brother, Raju (Randhir Kapoor), and Raju already calls Suman "Bhabhi". Amit teaches in college, but Raju is unemployed and a little bit spoiled by Amit and Suman's pamperings. Raju gets into bad company, and as a result in trouble. When Amit comes to help Raju, he gets killed. Suman dons the garb of a widow and does not plan to marry again. Then one day a look-alike of Amit, named Shankar enters Suman and Raju's life. Guilt-ridden Raju thinks that he has gotten his brother back, and tries to make amends by hiring Shankar, not knowing that Shankar is a wanted criminal, and is looking for an escape route from the authorities.

Parvarish (1977):

A police officer, DSP Shamsher Singh (Shammi Kapoor) captures the notorious bandit Mangal Singh (Amjad Khan) just as Mangal's wife is about to give birth. Do Anjane (1976):

A man (Amitabh Bachchan) is found wounded on railway tracks and when he awakens he has no memory of who he is and doesn't remember anything about his life. Six years later he is living with a wealthy couple and is now named Naresh Dutt.

One day he begins to regain his memory when he watches a film and realises that the actress in the film is related to him somehow. It is then that he discovers the actress in the film is none other than his wife Rekha Roy (Rekha). Hera Pheri (1976):

Popular Indian leading man Amitabh Bachchan stars in Hera Pheri, a campy Bollywood musical melodrama about faded friendships and family secrets. Best friends Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan) and Ajay (Vinod Khanna) sever their relationship when Vijay discovers that his father's murderer may be Ajay's own long-lost father, setting into motion a bloody saga of familial revenge that involves a maniacally insane mother and a motley assortment of badly disguised villains.

Mili (1975):

Mili (Jaya Bhaduri) is a story about a girl who suffers from pernicious anemia, a disease considered untreatable during the period the film was produced. Her lively, inquisitive and cheerful demeanour spreads happiness in everyone's life. She becomes an inspiration to her new neighbour Shekhar (Amitabh Bachchan) who is a drunkard and always depressed. With her cheerful ways she changes Shekhar and he falls in love with her, unaware of her ailment. When he comes to know about it, he thinks of going away as he cannot bear to see her die. A reproach from a neighbour makes him reconsider his decision. As he loves the girl, he offers to marry her and take her abroad for her treatment. The film begins and ends with a scene of a jet aircraft taking off, ostensibly carrying the couple to Switzerland where they hope to find a cure.

Chupke Chupke (1975):

Professor Parimal Tripathi (Dharmendra) is a botany professor who falls in love with Sulekha Chaturvedi (Sharmila Tagore) during a women's college botany excursion. Prof. Parimal Tripathi helps the bungalow watchman to get to his village downhill to enable him to see his grandson who's fallen ill. Meanwhile he disguises himself as the bungalow watchman to protect the old man's job. Sulekha finds out one day about the cover-up and is charmed on seeing Parimal's real personality. They both get married. Parimal loves playing pranks and is the antithesis of regular professors. Sulekha, on the other hand is in awe of her jijaji (brother-in-law) Raghavendra (Om Prakash). She considers her jijaji to be highly intellectual and looks upon him as her idol. Parimal develops an inferiority complex thanks to Sulekha's excessive praise of her jijaji and decides to prove that he is in no way a lesser mortal. Jijaji, meanwhile, has written a letter to Haripad bhaiyya (David Abraham Cheulkar) asking him to send a driver who can speak good Hindi because his present driver James D'costa (Keshto Mukherjee) uses improper grammar. This provides the perfect opportunity for Parimal to get to see and interact with jijaji. Parimal becomes Pyaremohan Ilahabadi, a motor-mouth driver who pretends to hate the English language and so speaks only Hindi. So begins the comedy of errors, as Parimal and Sulekha play prank after prank on the unsuspecting jijaji.

Kasauti (1974):

Kunwara Baap (1974):

Mahesh (Mehmood) is a poor rickshaw puller. One day, he goes to temple and sees a child lying on the stairs. He takes him inside the temple to give him to his parents but the priest assuming that the child is his sin, asks him to get out of the temple. Police constable also helps the priest and asks Mahesh to take his child along with him. Mahesh tells them that it is not his child but they do not listen. Then Mahesh tries to leave the child but fate lets him take the child home. There also, he faces opposition from the neighborhood due to the child but irrespective of their behavior, Mahesh starts bringing up the child and names him 'Hindustan'. On the other hand, Radha (Bharathi), the child's mother attempts suicide because the child's father, Vinod (Vinod Mehra), refuses to marry her. So, unable to bear the burden of sin, she tries to commit suicide but is saved by the local people. When she comes into conscious, she starts searching her child. She goes to police and also requests Vinod but Vinod rejects her cruelly. Vinod gets injured in an accident and is ashamed of his behavior. He apologizes to Radha and both of them get married. They along with Inspector Ramesh start finding their child. In bringing up the child, Sheela (Manorama), helps Mahesh. One day Mahesh comes to know that Hindustan has got infected with polio. He, feeling responsible for Hindustan's disease because of his uncleanliness, works hard to give the child a good education. Will he succeed in achieving his goal and will Radha be able to find her child?

Zanjeer (1973):

The film opens on Diwali with the death of young Vijay Khanna's parents, done by a man of unknown identity with a white horse on his charm bracelet, "zanjeer". Because of this traumatic event, Vijay has recurring nightmares of a white stallion. Fast forward 20 years, and Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan) is now an inspector, an honest police officer in a town where few are just. He receives complaints about a local man, Sher Khan (Pathan) (Pran), who is running gambling dens. When he calls Khan in for questioning, Khan's superiority complex chafes against Khanna's police authority, as he scolds the officer, telling him he only orders him around due to the uniform he wears. Vijay takes him up on his challenge, and meets him in street clothes to fight him. At fight's end, Sher Khan not only closes his gambling dens, but has gained respect for Vijay. He becomes an auto mechanic, and reforms his ways.

Gehri Chaal (1973):

Dharamchand is the Chair of Olympic Bank, which is due for a final audit by the 30th of the month. Shortly thereafter, his daughter, Hema, finds his dead body in his bedroom. She phones her brother, Ratan, who arrives, finds a suicide note in his dad’s room, clarifying that he had embezzled 20 lakhs from the bank, is unable to repay it, and hence is killing himself. Ratan decides to protect the good name of the family and does not tell anyone about the suicide note to anyone, including Hema.

The lives of Atmaram (Nazir Hussain) and his wife (Dulari) are turned upside down when they see their daughter, Mala's (Aruna Irani) pictures in a magazine. They arrange for Mala's marriage with the son of Ramlal (Agha). Mala is opposed to marrying anyone who she has not met, and is at the same time thrilled that the two persons she trusted, one Sharma (Shatrughan Sinha), and the other Verma (Manmohan) had actually submitted her pictures to a magazine, and were now willing to sign her up for a Bollywood movie. Mala is not able to understand her parents' opposition on her way to fame, and runs away from home with a lot of money and hands this money to Sharma and Verma. Greed overtakes Sharma and Verma, leading to the death of Verma. Mala, who witnessed Sharma kill Verma, now is on the run for her life.

Reshma aur Shera (1972):

Parwana (1971):

In this film, Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of an obsessed lover, which could be regarded as a model on which several other such roles were based, notably the one enacted by Shah Rukh Khan much later in Darr and Anjaam. Several other actors in various movies have portrayed similar roles. Amitabh plays Kumar Sen, an artist by profession. He is in love with Asha (Yogeeta Bali). Anand (1971):

The story is about Anand Sehgal (Rajesh Khanna), a cancer (lymphosarcoma of the intestine) patient who believes in living his life to the fullest.
